Thanks so much for sharing just a little of Donnie's heart! One of my biggest regrets about no longer working with Tyson Foods is that I did not have a chance to serve under the best CEO in the company's history! A true servant leader reflecting the very best of Christ in his daily life.

One of my favorite quotes recently is from Donnie - in the new WorkMatters video.
"I don't believe there is a 'Work Donnie' and a 'Church Donnie' and a 'Home Donnie'. There's just 'Donnie'."
He seems like a real, authentic, 21st century leader.

David - Thanks for sharing today. Our life lessons come to us in the most unusual places and times! Having spent 20+ years in the corporate office of a large company, this was an everyday observance and one of the biggest challenges to me as a believer!

The hardest lesson to learn that life is NOT fair and was NEVER intended to be. Jesus told us that this world would hate us for following Him. The only perfect man that ever lived was hated by those who live their lives according to the politics described above. Jesus turns the world's system upside down! "The first shall be last and the last shall be first."

Thanks again for sharing with us!

What an inspiring story! It confirms once again that God is always at work through us if we just allow him. God Bless to the Taxi Driver.

David - Thanks for sharing this message in so many ways! It is always exciting to see examples of someone sharing their faith unashamedly (particularly in a work setting!)

What also spoke to me was this man celebrating his new job as a taxi driver (knowing his former job position). Things have been very slow in my business venture, and due to medical expenses from recent surgery, I had been looking for some part time work to supplement our income. I celebrated yesterday by accepting a position as a telemarketer working in the evenings (which allows me to keep working at my business venture). I am looking forward to carrying the Gospel into a whole new arena through this opening that God has provided!

Thanks again for the clear reminder that God DOES care about us and what we do at work!!

David,

For better or worse, I was actually sitting quite lonely in an airport watching families travel for Memorial Day as I thought about missing my son's little league game when your tweet on this blog caught my eye.

For years I enjoyed traveling with my wife and kids. My wife and I have been to 39 countries together. My son has been to 29 and my daughter to 23. But now school keeps them planted.

I have gotten more discerning with my travel and keep an eye on the cost/benefits of it. I have hoped that technology would decrease the need for travel but I'm found that it almost increases it, putting us in regular contact and creating the need for in-person meetings. It's a blessing and a curse.

Your main point is the take away for me. It doesn't need to be about "me" but it needs to be about "others".

While I was in the airport (i'm now writing from the airplane! wifi following us everywhere.) I also reflected on the need to live in the present. The picture you paint of everyone running to/fro is the ultimate image of how we are always living somewhere else slightly in the future.

At any rate, thanks for the blog. I think it wasn't an accident that I read it in the sky club! :-)

I am currently on medical leave from work; the first week I was all stressed out because I was not there (I had not missed a day in ten years nor had I used any sick leave in twenty years) so I did not think the place could operate without me there. Then I began to pray about it and guess what it has run pretty good even with me not there!
I also am a volunteer fire fighter/ medical first responder and this is the first summer my husband and I have both worked the day shift in about three years; I am taking a personal leave from my fire department to reclaim my marriage. I have missed not spending time with him.
I am going on a mini vacation with my husband and I will return to work on June 1st, I won't wait a week to again to remember to ask God to remind me that he comes first in my life whether at work or at home and He will always be there to help with ANYTHING I need Him to.
