More often than not, I am feel like I am always running behind. It feels that there is just more and more we have to get done. Life seems to continue to get more complex and the pace we think we need to maintain just keep up is wearing everyone out. Hardly a day goes by that I don’t hear someone talk about how crazy or busy their life is and they are “so tired” or something to that effect. As a culture we seem obsessed with this attitude of busyness and there appears to be a desire to impress each other with “how busy we are.” Yet I sense that no one really likes it this way. Very few people I know truly enjoy living this way.
One of the great lessons of prayer is that it has a way of helping restore some perspective and sanity. When I take the time, which so often I feel like I don’t have, to “be still and know that I am God” the chaos and busyness gets sorted out. I don’t mean this is the chief purpose of prayer, but it never ceases to amaze me how a consistent prayer life will bless you with a sense of peace and a quiet confidence that it will all somehow get done. The time I spend with my Creator, the one who truly knows me, is the only way to get the true nourishment I need to handle the never-ending demands and expectations of this life.
When you feel busiest and most out of control, spend more time in His throne room laying it all at His feet.
Blessings!
