We are so excited (and slightly exhausted) for this Friday. Over 1,500 leaders will converge on The Church at Pinnacle Hills for our 7th annual WorkMatters Leadership Conference. I feel God’s pleasure in all of the incredible detail work that must be done to make this happen with excellence.
I will have the chance to speak briefly at 11:00am on the faith and work movement and how WorkMatters may be able to fan your flames. I look forward to talking about our Purpose…to inspire you to Discover, Engage and Serve so that you can grow in your relationship with Christ at work.
This morning my Bible reading took me to some of Paul’s best writing on serving. It is so difficult for us to put aside our pride and authority and truly serve others at work. Yet the best leaders we have ever read about or worked with have been servant leaders.
But this goes way beyond serving at work. It also calls us to serve through our work! Especially to help those in great need.
If you have another minute, read and think about the counsel below. It says it all about serving.
3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:3-11
So glad to learn about you guys! Great work that you are doing and I hope to learn from your experiences!
