Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10
In our work we sometimes talk about “working as a team” or maybe “taking one for the team”. Its become such a cliched phrase these days that we don’t really pay much attention to it….until you see it in action.
I was able to take a little time off last week with my wife and another dear couple celebrating a variety of different things. We never need much of an excuse to celebrate, but we actually had some legitimate reasons this time, so we boarded a plane and off we went to the beach leaving work and family behind.
It was such a comfort to know that while I was gone our team would pick up the slack for me just as I had done for them at some point. While away, a couple of things in evidently came up that needing attending to, things that were in my scope of responsibility. As I saw these situations develop, I also watched our team jump in and cover for me handling the matters smoothly while being very busy with many of the weeks priorities. What a blessing it is to work with a team that will put forth the effort because they want you to maximize the precious little time to get away and relax.
Lets make every effort to take care of those we work with each and every day. Don’t resent it when you need to cover for them from time to time to take care of a family situation or to get some needed R and R. This is what makes our work life a little more enjoyable and you can see the team functioning as it should. It sure meant a great deal to me to have the WorkMatters team watching my back while I was away. Hope you are blessed to work with a great team as I am!
Thanks David, Butch and Beckye!!
