You can make many plans, but the Lords purposes will prevail. Proverbs 19:21 (NLT)
This verse in Proverbs is probably one most of us can quote in one form or fashion. It is one that has spoken to me my entire adult life. Even though I have claimed this verse many times over the course of my life, it still amazes me how hard it can be at times to let go of my plans. It has taken me a long time to truly embrace this verse. My selfish pride drove me to always expect everything to go as I planned in all areas of my life, especially my life at work. Of course, so often that was NOT the case. Can I get an Amen?
As I get older, I am learning to hold my plans with a light touch and trusting that God’s purposes are always best. That does not mean that I understand all that has happened over the years, but the Lord has been gracious in teaching me to go ahead and make my plans, but then allowing his purposes to take precedence. I have found this to be much easier to do if I will seek His purposes first when making my plans.
This week, lets make a special effort to give our plans to the Lord at work. Before spending hours planning some elaborate strategy or developing a sophisticated business plan, make a conscious, intentional decision to invite the Lord to guide your plans in accordance with his sovereign will. His purposes will no doubt prevail and if our plans have included Him, we can more easily flow with whatever happens, trusting that we are in sync with our Father as he carries out HIS plans.
Have a blessed Lord’s Day.
Timely……again.
