Sometimes my work is so exciting, so fast paced, so fulfilling…then other times, like today, it feels like I’m sitting in my college Business Law class (sorry Attorney friends). This is true for all of us, isn’t it? We all have days or portions of days where we just need to grind it out.
Drudgery tests our character, doesn’t it? How do we deal with the mundane, routine times in our lives? It is much easier to be a bright light at work when we are motivated; when we are working on a really cool project; when we see things happening. But often times at work, we have ordinary tasks to complete. Or, tasks that aren’t ordinary, but are just painful to execute.
As I considered that today, I thought about one of my favorite verses in the Bible that says…whatever you do (that means EVERYTHING!), do it with all of your heart as if you are working for the Lord, not for men.
Colossians 3:23 can cover you in almost every work issue you have. The next time you feel drudgery in your work, lean on this biblical wisdom to adjust your focus.
For Him @ Work,
David
David – wonderful encouragement, and a great reminder for those days of drudgery.
