Last night my wife Theresa and I saw a real movie. You know, one of those that have you crying and laughing, but most of all, leaves a fingerprint on your life that you won’t soon forget.
Fireproof is the third movie conceived and produced by Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA. You may have seen or heard of their last movie called Facing the Giants, an awesome movie about high school football and honoring God. Their first movie, Flywheel, while crudely produced on a budget of $10,000, was an outstanding movie about a businessman and his battle with the world versus his faith. (I highly recommend this movie as a faith/work growing tool.)
Fireproof literally hit home for Theresa as it was filmed entirely onsite in Albany, GA where she grew up! But more importantly, this movie is all about our marriages and the struggles and opportunities we have in our relationships to love our spouses with Godly love.
So what does this have to do with work? It has everything to do with work! Explore these two questions. When your marriage is not healthy, how does it affect your work? When your work is not right, how does it affect your marriage?
Our roles in life are all integrated. We bring our personal lives to work with us, whether we like it or not. And we often take our work home with us, either emotionally or physically. And that can have a major impact on the health of a marriage.
Take a minute and watch this trailer, then call your spouse and ask him or her out on a date to see this movie this week. The best relationships will get better, and those struggling or in trouble can find hope.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Worth mentioning…
I live in Siloam Springs and work in Rogers serving Wal-Mart and the vendor community. When the men in our church learned of this film, a small group of individuals worked tirelessly to bring the movie to Siloam Springs. Bottom line, our market was too small to merit a release in our town.
Long story short, Dayspring stepped up and sponsored the film in Siloam Springs, basically guaranteeing ticket sales. I find it encouraging to know there are men and women in key positions of power and influence that are willing to take measures to be salt and light in their community.
Thanks Dayspring.
FYI
Every show on opening weekend was sold out in Siloam Springs
Nationally, the film was #4 for gross box office receipts.
It had fewer than 900 theater releases (average for movies is 2500) and still grossed over $6.5 million which makes in #2 in the country on a per theater take.
Sounds like a great movie. Can’t wait to see it.
I’ve been twice!Took my children one of those times who are 24 and 23. One of them is engaged and her fiancee was there as well. It ministered to me after 25 years of marriage and it impacted my kids in a positive way. Great film, go see it.
